Yet, their cell biology is not well understood. Using concepts and techniques employed in cell biology and neuroscience, we tease the (sub)cellular mechanisms that power neuron-to-neuron communication in our brain.\u00a0 Our group aim to provide solid cellular foundations to neuronal communication mechanisms in a simple circuit made of 302 neurons and ~7000 synapses in <em>C. elegans.<\/em><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li data-section-id=\"rf2y4h\" data-start=\"617\" data-end=\"691\">How do ciliated sensory neurons sense, respond to, and adapt to stimuli?<\/li>\n<li data-section-id=\"1vp0o5n\" data-start=\"694\" data-end=\"770\">How do the biological properties of sensory cilia shape sensory responses?<\/li>\n<li data-section-id=\"dwu6t\" data-start=\"773\" data-end=\"858\">How do neurons communicate via synapses, gap junctions, and neuropeptide signaling?<\/li>\n<li data-section-id=\"17hl7dn\" data-start=\"861\" data-end=\"957\">How do transcriptional changes in individual neurons or neuronal populations reshape behavior?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Our lab is part of the of the <a href=\"http:\/\/neurophy.ulb.ac.be\/\">Neurophysiology Lab<\/a> , the <a href=\"http:\/\/uni.ulb.ac.be\/\">ULB Neuroscience Institute<\/a> (UNI) of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ulb.ac.be\">University of Brussels <\/a>(ULB)<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Neuron are champions of cell-cell communication.
